Hi guys! Today I'll be sharing all about's Coach's latest Spring Summer 2021 Collection called "Coach Forever Season 2", which is now available in Malaysia. I'll also be sharing about an embroidery workshop I attended with them!
With Coach's 80th anniversary this year, Coach launched their "Coach Forever" collection featuring timeless pieces and classic silhouettes. With the slogan "buy it, love it, pass it on", the main aim of this collection is to feature classic pieces that you'll love using + will be able to pass on to the next generation.
Coach has started to make a move towards more sustainable fashion, and I'll be talking more about that below.
First off, let's start with the workshop! I was invited to join an embroidery workshop, and I received this cute plant as a gift:
As well as these embroidery supplies:
Among the supplies was the frame that held the cloth, some linin cloth (I believe?), some thread and some more tools:
The session was led by Sheena Liam, a model and artist who has had exhibitions on her embroidery work. With this upcoming Spring/Summer collection, she also collaborated with Coach to create 5 unique bags that feature her beautiful embroidery.
The sharing session was quite fun, and I enjoyed learning a new skill! To be honest I have never tried embroidery before and always thought it was a very intricate and complicated art. Although some work does go into embroidery, the session was very simple, and I could follow along easily.
Sheena hand drew some templates which we could trace onto the tracing paper/fabric, and she welcomed us to embroider our own designs as well. Here's how mine turned out!
Not gonna lie, I really got sucked into doing this haha. It was so fun! It takes some concentration and it was a fun little activity for me to do/keep on doing at the end of my day. The rainbow took me the longest to do, but I'm quite proud of the outcome.
Building on last September's story of community, responsibility and mixed-season wardrobing, Coach Forever Season Two is the next chapter of Creative Director Stuart Vevers' vision of mixing past, present and future together in one moment to speak to real-life dressing and a more responsible approach.
One of the more memorable visuals from this collection for me was definitely Hyuna and Dawn's "Friends" video!
Anyway, the reason why the workshop for VIPs featured embroidery was because some pieces this season feature crafty doodle embroidery as part of the design. This collection also features items that use vegetable tanning.
Vegetable tanning is the traditional method of tanning leather, its method dating back to approximately 6000 BCE. Like the name suggests, veg-tanning is an organic method relying on natural vegetable tannins from bark or other plant tissues. Tannins from trees such as oak, chestnut, or mimosa are popular, but hundreds of tree types and other plants are known to have been used. For this season, Coach uses several plants like carrots, turmeric, oak and more.
Chrome tanning (the more popular method of leather tanning) is significantly faster than vegetable tanning and can be done in less than a day, and it generally produces a supple leather that reacts well to water and keeps its finish throughout its “life”.
Vegetable tanning is generally a time-consuming process requiring highly skilled craftsmen, which involves soaking hides in large baths of concentrated tannins over a course of several months. It is still used for special purposes of heavy leather for shoe soles, belts, etc. This method is the most typically associated with heritage clothes and goods. This is what makes vegetable tanning more special.
Some of the features and benefits associated with vegetable tanned leather which makes it relevant in the heritage community include:
- Traditional approach
- Leathers are thick and hard wearing
- All materials are biodegradable
- Natural feel and “earthy” smell
- Develops a patina with use and age
- Feels more organic/‘alive’
With that said, let's talk about the items from this season's collection!
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Utility Crossbody 18
PLANT GREEN/TURMERIC ROOT/SIGNATURE JAQUARD • RM2,750
I usually prefer shopping from the ladies' section as I find men's bags to not be as exciting, but this season I was really surprised by the men's selection at Coach! The bag that caught my eye the most was this Utility crossbody. The camera bag shape of it is super cute ant utilitarian, making it perfect for daily use.
The size, unfortunately, cannot fit a full-frame DSLR, but it can fit other digital cameras and other daily essentials like power banks, phones, sanitisers and more. I really like the green colour, but for longevity, I think the jacquard would be a safer option.
The inside is really roomy and you're spoilt for choice with all the compartments:
You can wear it crossbody like it was meant to be, but after playing around with it in the boutique, I kind of found it quite cute on the hip! Kinda looks like a jungle explorer haha.
I expected to like the turmeric/beige-y one the most but I felt it was quite plain. I would definitely recommend you guys to check these bags out, especially the classic one in the jacquard. Even the green one is a unique shade that I would really not mind adding to my collection.
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Utility Crossbody with Football Print
TAN CONFETTI • RM3,250
There is a larger version as well, and although height-wise it is taller, width-wise it is the same. I recommend getting the smaller one as the bigger one does not have any outside compartments!
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Portfolio In Original Natural Leather
TURMERIC NUT • RM
Another vintage-inspired item with a fun twist, this would be a perfect accessory for meetings (when we can all go to the office again. Fitting A4-sized documents easily, it can also fit an iPad.
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Charter Crossbody with Hybrid with Embroidery
SADDLE MULTI • RM2,000
Following the trend of crossbody bags with small pouches, this is a multi-purpose item that I think some guys would love. Without the strap and the mini pouch, it can be used as a clutch/wallet, making it a versatile item in your wardrobe.
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Field Tote 40 with Embroidery
IVORY MULTI • RM2,950
If you've been following my Instagram, you would have seen me posting pictures of my own Field Tote 40. I find the size amazing for daily use because I can literally put everything I need inside. This season's iteration comes in white leather adorned with embroidered doodles, complete with the comfortable crossbody strap I love so much.
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Charter Backpack with Embroidery
IVORY MULTI • RM2,950
Similar to the field tote, the backpack version is great for those looking for a comfortable yet stylish way to carry your items.
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Dinky 23 in Signature Jacquard
NAVY/OAK • RM2,300
Remodelled from the original design from the 1970s, this renewed classic bag is now available in Navy!
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Ergo Shoulder Bag
CARROT/PLANT GREEN • RM2,750
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Ergo Shoulder Bag 33
GREEN • RM3,200
Another star piece of this season, the Ergo bag is a new design that that features an adjustable shoulder strap and a zip-top closure:
It really looks super chic and classic, and although I really love the carrot colour, I very much prefer the larger green version! The green is a stunning shade, and the shape/size is perfect. It looks very understated and minimal, and I think it will be a great point to any outfit.
Ther are more colours available, as well as other materials such as jacquard/fabric:
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Ergo Shoulder Bag with Embroidery
TURMERIC NUT • RM3,200
There is also an embroidered version in this lovely brown shade, but I still really like the dark green/carrot haha
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Swinger 20
NATURAL/RED SAND/TAFFY • RM800
This season features a new, smaller version, of last season's new line of Swinger bags. This is Coach's most affordable bag to date, and the retro vibe/look makes it perfect for a day out having lunch/hanging out. The size is not the biggest, but it can definitely fit your essentials.
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Swinger Bag with Vintage Rose Print Interior
BLACK • RM1,150
Aside from vegetable tanning, Coach also features bags with upwoven leather. This material is made up of repurposed leftover leather that Coach has decided not to throw away, but rather to create something out of them.
I find it nice that they're actively reducing their waste and finding ways to repurpose the extra resources that they have!
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Ergo Shoulder Bag with Weaving
SADDLE MULTI • RM2,750
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Ergo Shoulder Bag 33 with Weaving
IVORY MULTI • RM3,200
Similar to the other Ergo bags above, this comes in two sizes. Both give a more hobo-chic look, and although they're multi-coloured, I actually think they look quite neutral and will match most outfits.
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Field Tote 22 with Weaving
IVORY MULTI • RM2,300
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Field Tote 30 with Weaving
IVORY MULTI • RM2,750
COACH FOREVER SEASON 2
Field Tote 40 with Weaving

The upwoven leather is also featured in 3 different field tote sizes, the smallest being the cutest in my opinion.
I didn't really browse much of the ready-to-wear items, but you can click here to check them out on the website.
You can also click here to view the official catalogue!
Among all the bags this season, the ones that caught my eye are definitely the big green Ergo and the Utility Crossbody bags. I'm deliberating right now which one I should get haha.
Aside from the Coach Forever collection, here are some other new bags I spotted in the boutique during my visit:
