Hi guys! Today I'll be sharing all about my laser hair removal experience at Sliq Clinic
If you guys follow me, you'll know that I had a massive breakout on my upper lip area back in March. To be honest, this is pretty common for me, and that's because of my facial hair. My upper lip area's facial hair grows quite fast, and it always irritates my skin, causing irritations and leading to breakouts.
I've always wanted to get rid of the hair in that area because:
1. I don't like facial hair on myself
2. It tends to get itchy
3. I get breakouts
4. It causes texture and bumps under makeup
Although getting breakouts and scars isn't that big a deal for me anymore (as I understand my skin better now and know what products to use), it can be quite annoying. This cycle of getting irritations/breakouts, clearing it out with products, and staring all over again...is just so tiring. This is why I decided to get laser hair removal at Sliq Clinic to get rid of this problem once and for all.
Why Sliq Clinic
I chose Sliq Clinic because I’ve tried their facial services and laser treatments before, and I really like their service & the results I see. I also love how the KL Eco City Mall branch is so accessible to me since it’s near the LRT
What hair removal treatment did I do?
I did hair removal laser treatment using Alma diode laser hair removal technology from Germany. Alma diode laser is a highly effective laser for hair removal that uses an 810nm diode laser. It's one of the most effective treatments in the industry for achieving smooth and beautiful hair-free skin, and Sliq Clinic uses Alma for their hair removal.
How does it work?
First, any excess facial hair was shaved:
Then, a cooling gel is applied to the area:
The laser is then used!
Laser therapy uses high-heat laser beams on the hair follicles, and it stops new hairs from growing. Unlike waxing and tweezing which you need to continually do, laser hair removal helps make your hair follicles dormant.
The whole treatment was very fast and although the area was slightly red afterwards, it wasn’t in pain at all, and the redness disappeared in a few hours. Here's what it looked like before the laser:
This is immediately after:
This is a few hours after:
How does it feel? Is it painful?
Compared to other laser treatments I’ve tried before, this one is not as painful. There is a slight sensation, but I feel like it’s super bearable. It stings slightly more when the laser hits thicker hairs, but it’s nothing too unbearable.
Pain varies per person, but with diode laser technology, discomfort is reduced to minimum. This diode laser system comes with cooling contact technology (the gel used on me) to reduce warm energy coming out from laser.
How’s the result? Is it permanent?
To achieve permanent hair reduction you'll have to go a few times, but I realized that my facial hair already reduced significantly even after my first session. I realised that 1 month after doing hair removal, my hair growth was really reduced! I did not shave/tweeze at all, and I love how clear the area looks:
Look at how clear my upper lip area is! I noticed that the day after the laser, some small hairs dropped off (I assume that's some hair follicles/leftovers). I had very little to no hair growth at all in that 1 month period, which was surprising because usually, I grow stubble very fast.
As mentioned, I have to go through a few sessions to fully remove all hair, and I'm looking forward to even more stunning results! Round one had such a big effect, and I can't wait to be totally hair free after more sessions.
Unlike waxing which you need to continually do and doesn’t reduce your hair, I love how doing laser removal will eventually get rid of all my facial hair.
Have you done any other hair removal before? How does laser hair removal compare?
I’ve tried waxing before, and I didn’t really like it. I feel like it did not really remove my facial hair that well, and my facial hair grew back at the same rate as when I use tweezers.
What's the different between IPL hair removal and Diode laser hair removal?
Here are some key differences:
Which treatment area is suitable for laser hair removal?
Sliq offers this treatment both for full body or for only specific body parts! There areas include:
- Face
- Breasts
- Legs & Feet
- Bikini Line
- Back & Shoulders
- Chest & Abdomen
- Buttocks
- Underarms
- Arms & Hands
- Neckline
- Nose
- Ears
- Unibrow
This treatment is also suitable for most skin types and all genders!
How much does it cost? Is it affordable?
For Sliq Clinic, it goes by body parts and you can consult them for a quote. Different body parts have different pricing, but their prices start at RM200. After seeing the results from just the first session, I think 200 is actually a good price.
You can also save almost 50% off if you get a buy 6 free 6 package, which you can ask more about via consultation!
