Hi guys, welcome back to my blog! Today I'll be sharing all about AXIS-Y's Artichoke Intensive Skin Barrier Ampoule.
Axis-Y is a Korean brand that offers climate-based skincare for everyone around the world. As someone who travels a lot, I realize that I usually get breakouts after going on a trip. Be it overseas or local like from KL to Melaka, I always get 1-3 pimples. I think one of the reasons is because when I travel, I usually need to stay in a cramped space (like a bus or a plane) for a few hours, and sharing air with other people isn't the most hygienic. I am currently working in KL and my family is based in Melaka, so I try to go back every month. No joking, I will always break out!
After surveying people's concerns and feedback from social media, Axis-Y created the first-ever climate-based skincare products that protect against skin-damaging environments. Their aim is to deliver healthy vegan ingredients with no harmful additives to those who are very sensitive to the environment + different temperatures.
As a result of air pollution (living in the city), season changes, the difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures and frequent travel between countries in different climate zones, many of us are bothered by skin problems such as pimples, large pores, sensitive and fragile skin, and uneven skin tone. AXIS-Y hopes to help you solve the above problems by hydrating your skin inside and building up your skin barrier outside.
They offer products containing curated natural plant extracts, no toxic chemicals, high standards and strict requirements during manufacturing as well. They're also committed to environmental protection!
They currently only have 1 line available: the 6+1+1 Advanced Formula line. In line with their Natural, Minimal, Science slogan, it contains:
- 6 finely selected natural plant extracts (Natural)
Axis-Y carefully selected six natural plant extracts that are safe and beneficial to the skin. - 1 core ingredient (Minimal)
Axis-Y uses one core ingredients to solve your skin problems effectively without giving additional burden to your skin. - 1 specialized skincare technology (Science)

They currently have 4 products available in their line up:

Axis-Y sent me 3 products from the line to try out. Just a disclaimer, although the products were sent to me, this review still contains my 100% honest and unbiased review.

WHAT IS IT?
The AXIS-Y Artichoke Intensive Skin Barrier Ampoule is an artichoke-infused ampoule that helps heal damaged and irritated skin. It also hydrates and protects the skin from pollutants.
The main efficacies promised by this cleanser are:
- Delivers rich anti-oxidants, nutrients, and hydration that heals damaged, irritated skin barriers.
- Defend the skin against bacteria and pollutants with the help of phytonutrients to prevent future breakouts and irritation.
WHERE TO BUY?
The full-sized 30ml bottle retails for USD25 on Axis-Y's official website. That's around RM100, which I think is not bad considering the vegan ingredients, but its not the best price to size ratio for an ampoule currently out in the market. Personally, I think the price is still okay.
PACKAGING
Before anything, lemme just say how nice the overall packaging is! The products come in a cream + great packaging that looks uber sleek and minimalist.
The product itself comes in a box:
And the box (thankfully) has information in both English and Korean. So convenient!
The bottle itself comes in glass while the packaging is matte. I can attest to the labelling's waterproof-ness! It does not peel off + is very sturdy.
Here are some more descriptions on the side:
This product comes with a normal dropper, and it comes taped before you first use it.
INGREDIENTS
As I mentioned above, this product contains natural plant extracts with no toxic chemicals at all. It only uses healthy vegan ingredients with no harmful additives.
This product is paraben-free, sulfate-free, silicone-free and EU allergen-free. After analyzing the ingredients, I found all the ingredients were EWG green-level, meaning they're very unlikely to cause irritation.
Artichoke is a pretty uncommon skincare ingredient, and it actually helps to strengthen and reinforce cells from the inside, fighting against wrinkles. After using this serum, I do feel like my pores look refined & that my skin is bouncy and firm.
This product contains ingredients that help with brightening (Licorice Root Extract), acne-fighting (Licorice Root Extract + Tea Tree Extract), promote wounds (Centella Asiatica Extract + Sodium Hyaluronate) as well as with anti-ageing (Adenosine).
It also contains high moisturizing ingredients good for those with dry skin (Beta-Glucan, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin), as well as those with oily/acne-prone skin (Tea Tree Extract + Allantoin) and sensitive skin (Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice).
TEXTURE AND FRAGRANCE
It has a runny watery gel-like texture that spreads easily and absorbs quickly into the skin as well. It has little to no scent and doesn’t leave the skin feeling sticky, but it does leave it feeling very hydrated. I like how plump and glowy my skin feels without the stickiness! Because of that I usually use this ampoule both day and night.
HOW TO USE
On the packaging it says to apply a moderate amount of amopoule after cleansing and toning, followed by a moisturizer.
I usually use one droppers' worth of product on my skin, dripping it on my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin before gently rubbing & patting it in.
MY REVIEW AND VERDICT
I usually leave ampoules for the night time since ampoules tend to be thicker + more concentrated. That's not the case with this one! It has little to no scent and doesn’t leave the skin feeling sticky, but it does leave it feeling very hydrated. I like how plump and glowy my skin feels without the stickiness! Because of that I usually use this ampoule both day and night.- Deliver rich anti-oxidants, nutrients, and hydration that heals damaged, irritated skin barriers.
- YES! I think this does a fabulous job of providing my skin with ample hydration + nutrition without making my skin feel uncomfortable or break out. - Defend the skin against bacteria and pollutants with the help of phytonutrients to prevent future breakouts and irritation.
- Maybe yes? I'm not sure how to measure how this ampoule defended my skin from bacteria and pollutants, but I can say that I did not break out at all while using this + this helped to keep me acne free while I was on my travels. I love how it gives a non-sticky glowy finish to the skin, making it feel super plump and smooth + look revitalized and rejuvenated.
WILL I REPURCHASE?
I would if there was a promo! At USD25 and 30ml worth of product, it's not exactly the most affordable ampoule out there. I definitely would repurchase this again because of the effect, but not anytime soon.
Actually, all 3 products are reasonably priced. Although I would repurchase this product, if I could to recommend only 1 thing from these 3 products, I would say go for the toner!
