Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about the Japan Leather Pride happening right now at ISETAN The Japan Store!

The first ever overseas expansion of Nihon Kawa-ichi, which literally means the Japanese Leather Market, will be held from 4 to 17 January 2019 at the Ground Floor of the ISETAN The Japan Store in Lot 10!

The Nihon Kawa-ichi fair has been held for more than 60 times in a good number of department stores across Japan since its inception in 2011. For the first Nihon Kawa-ichi in Malaysia, there will be approximately 300 leather products from seven Japanese bag and leather goods manufacturers.

All exhibited goods are made of leather tanned in Japan and come in a wide range of designs and colors, including leather bags that can be used as backpacks, shoulder bags, Dulles bags, etc. Wallets, coin purses, and card cases will be available, too.

I had the opportunity to learn to distinguish different materials by touching them at the fair, feeling the differences between the different types of natural leathers. I also got to see and experience the leather making process via VR animation, which is also available at the fair!

There were lots of different types of bags wallets & accessories in a diverse set of designs & colours at the fair.

One that stood out were these red designs!

Not only do they have women's bags, they also have quite the assortment of gents' fashion items:

One in particular that caught my eye was this bag below!

I actually first saw the bags beside it and thought ooh those "salarymen bags" look good. Then I noticed that one of them was pretty small and could be used as a crossbody bag as well!

It had gold detailing & a wooden handle, and the craftsmanship was just incredible. It totally matched my outfit that day!

Aside from browsing the fair, shopping & learning more about Japanese leather, you can also try your hand at creating your own leather case!

You can choose from the designs available, and a leather artisan will actually guide you through the process of creating your design.

A complimentary piece of chamois leather, which can be used to wipe glasses or LCD screens, will be given to every visitor who responds to a questionnaire during the fair as well!
If you're in KL from Jan 4 - Jan 17, I recommend dropping by ISETAN The Japan Store to check the fair out! (Maybe even get some pressies for your family members/loved ones this coming CNY/Valentines Day?).
Thanks for dropping by and reading my blog, see ya in the next post!
