Chanel Beauty Announces Boy de Chanel

Chanel Beauty just announced that it will be launching Boy de Chanel, their first makeup line exclusively for men!

The line will first be launched in Korea this September 2018, and heading the entire campaign will be Boy de Chanel's campaign model Lee Dong Wook!

I'm super excited because #1, who doesn't love Lee Dong Wook?! I think the launching in Korea makes sense as well, because, considering the number of actors, idols, and celebs, they'll have maximum exposure there (plus I think their biggest market would be Korea too since guys wearing makeup is more common there).

The collection will be launched on Chanel's website in November this year and internationally to the rest of the world in January 2019.

Starting with 3 products, the Boy de Chanel range will come with 4 shades of Le Teint Foundation SPF25/PA++

It's amazing that Chanel is going to be launching a line exclusively for men, and I applaud them for it. There have been some people online who say that there should be no exclusion in makeup and that a genderless approach would have been better, and I can see their point. I think makeup should be genderless and that both genders should be able to use the product, but I think the whole point of the collection is to introduce products that cater to a guy's simple makeup needs. Tbh it's the same with makeup specifically for dark skin or makeup specifically for sensitive skin. Men's skin is different from women's skin (eg texture, beard area, etc.), and I don't see any harm in making products that specifically tend to men's skin.

I'm not sure what the coverage of the foundation will be (nor the prices), but seeing the limited shade range, I'm expecting that it will be quite sheer. Still, I'll try to get my hands on these products when they launch! I would have preferred if they also released a translucent powder, concealers + tinted balms, but oh well. Here's to hoping the line will still be extended!
