As someone with super oily & sweaty skin, I tend to stick to sebum control & mattifying primers. I was watching a video of Pony and she mentioned how pearl primers help to give the skin a glowy, healthy finish. I tried it with the Heimish Artless Glow Base that I had and the effect was pretty good! It wasn't super shiny to the point where it looked like glass skin, just enough to make me look dewy and healthy. Anyhoo, the problem with that primer was that it did not help with making my makeup stay on for a long time lol. I usually only use it for days when I know I will be in an airconditioned place.
Annyeong.my, a new Korean cosmetics website based here in Malaysia, recently reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in reviewing Klavuu White Pearlsation Ideal Actress Backstage Cream. I'm not sure if they were watching my IG stories or nah, because it was literally so perfect hahaha. I was interested in trying out other pearlescent primers, so I said yes. Just a disclaimer, although the product was provided, this review stills contain my 100% thoughts!
So without further ado, let's get to it!
WHAT IS IT
This product is a 5-in-1 product and acts as a makeup base, primer, sunscreen, pearl base, and fixer. It has SPF 30PA++, which is a decent amount of sun protection. It's targeted for people who want their makeup to stay on longer, to help smoothen your complexion and to help fix your foundation. You can either apply it to your skin like you would a normal base or mix it with a 1:1 ratio with your foundation.
WHERE TO BUY
This product costs RM160 but is available on annyeong.my for only RM118. It's pretty steep for a primer/base product, but I do know that Klavuu products are marketed as a "semi-luxury" brand.
(Update: Annyeong.my is currently not accessible, but you can still get this product on Skinxstore for RM98.99)
Annyeong.my is is a new Korean cosmetics website based here in Malaysia and you get free shipping if you buy more than 2 items. They also offer flash shipping and guarantee authenticity. Their delivery is pretty bomb because my parcel arrived in only 2 days! 💜 They're a pretty new website so the selection isn't as big, but they do have the essentials like Etude House, Innisfree, Laneige, 3CE and more. They also have a physical store in Ipoh!
PACKAGING
This product comes in a white box with some iridescent detailing (which is so pretty!). It comes with 30ml of product and is contained in a hygienic pump tube.
INGREDIENTS
This product actually has a lot of good skincare ingredients inside it. It contains brightening (Niacinamide), anti-aging (Adenosine & Tocopherol) & 4 different types of UV protecting ingredients. You can view the whole ingredient list on Skincarisma here!
FRAGRANCE & TEXTURE
The Backstage Cream has a faint "BB" scent and has a light cream consistency. Although the colour looks peach/beige, it spreads out evenly to just make your face the slightest bit fairer like a tone up cream. It's not as exaggerated as WLab's White Holic Cream and I find it more natural & similar to Canmake's Juicy Glow Skin Base in terms of brightening.
Compared to the Heimish Artless Glow Base I mentioned earlier, the Klavuu looks thicker at first but the both spread out to the same amount of pearlescent shine. The Klavuu one is more "pearly" while the Heimish one is more "glittery". I found that one pump of the Klavuu cream is enough for my entire face.
HOW TO USE
As I mentioned above, you can either use this before or mix it with foundation. I prefer using it before applying foundation because mixing it makes my foundation shade lighter. It becomes glowy though. so I would recommend mixing if you have a foundation that's one shade darker than your skin lying around because the glowy finish looks amazing! If you just apply it as a primer, a bit of the glowy-ness still shows through.
MY REVIEW & VERDICT
I've used this for a few times now and I think I can say that this product has become one of my current go-to's! As a primer, not only does it give a nice healthy glow, it also really helps to keep your makeup on your face and make this last longer. I really saw this when I went to the Coco Game Center. I was in a rush to do my face (lol) and I forgot to lay my base/primer properly, forgetting to apply some on my forehead. In this pic it's still okay, but believe me...after an hour my forehead makeup was gone hahaha. The foundation on my cheeks and the rest of my face, however, were fully intact, so yeah.
As for mixing, I was initially not a fan because it makes the foundation lighter and kind of takes away from the coverage. However, I find that if you mix in the right shade + this cream & put on a light layer, it gives a nice "tinted moisturizer" look! I don't look that perfect, but I look better than usual kinda thing hahaha. TL:DR, I think this cream is bomb!
WILL I REPURCHASE
When I first got this I was like lol I'm probs not going to repurchase this. After using it however, I'm impressed! It gives that glowy effect I like + makes my makeup stay on. A little really goes a long was so I don't think I'll need to buy another tube any time soon. When I do run out, however, I do think I'll get another tube! I mean, the packaging is nice & it does what it's supposed to do, what more could I as for? 😉
And that was it for this post! As always, thank you guys so much for dropping by my blog. I hope you guys liked this blog post and found it informative & helpful. I'll see y'all in the next one!
