I was looking through my files the other day and I came across an old folder with some of my old acne photos. It’s actually been a while since I last saw them and I suddenly realized how far my skin has improved. I definitely know how it feels like to be insecure, frustrated and just emotional over your pimples or your acne. A lot of my friends have perfect skin and I used to envy them a lot.
It’s been almost a year and a half since the latest photo in that folder was taken. I’ve learned a lot since then and I still get break outs and I still have acne scars, but as you can see my skin has improved a lot.
So today I thought I’d share with you guys the products that I use as well as some tips on how I deal with my pimples and my acne scars.
Without further ado, let’s get started!
So far I’ve tried a few pimple creams, but my holy grail would have to be Oxy’s OXY 10 Acne Pimple Medication Cream. This is a creamy lotion product that helps to dry out pimples and it contains 10% benzoyl peroxide. That is quite a high percentage and I don’t recommend everyone to use it. Definitely consult a dermatologist before applying any pimple cream. There is also OXY 5 which has a lower percentage. I first started using OXY 5 about 5 years ago when I still had a lot of pimples, but when it didn’t work that well I moved on to OXY 10. Nowadays I don’t use it that often because my hormonal acne has kind of slowed down.
Next products I’ll be talking about are these pimple patches from Nex Care and Mia Care. Pimple patches are useful because they help absorb the pus out of pimples so that you don’t need to pop them. Pimple patches are also good because they prevent you from touching your pimples. I didn’t notice any difference in terms of effects between the Nex Care and Mia Care patches, but in terms of looks, the Mia Care one is thinner and looks more natural. I suggest buying the Mia Care ones for the day as they’re more natural looking and the Nex Care ones at night because it comes packaged with 30 patches instead of 9/12.

When you have acne it means your skin stressed, inflamed or irritated. To soothe and calm my skin I usually use an aloe vera gel and these ones from Nature Republic and The Face Shop are amazing.
5. Lavera Naturokismetik Pore Refining Moisturizing Fluid

Sometimes our skin produces oil because it lacks in moisture. Moisturizing is a must and for these past few months I’ve been loving this German brand called Lavera’s Pore Refining Moisturizing Fluid with organic mint, zinc and salicylic acid. Although it’s a cream moisturizer it doesn’t feel tacky on oily skin and has helped keep me blemish free.
When I was young I popped a lot of my pimples and a lot of them are gone now thanks to Oxy’s Anti Pimple Mark Gel. Again, this is one of my holy grail products and I just keep on buying it because it just works so well! A few of my friends said that they’re scared to try OXY products out because they heard that it bleaches the skin, but after using it for so many years now I don’t think that’s true, or I would have had multiple bleached spots on my face right now. Another nice spot gel that I’ve used before is The Face Shop’s Clean Face Spot Corrector.
To help lighten my scars I also used vitamin C serums. This C20 serum by OST and this VC Effector Serum by It’s Skin are my ultimate faves. Vitamin C helps to lighten dark spots and these serums have done wonders for me.
To help speedup skin turnover, I exfoliate once a week. I’ve tried a few products and Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Brightening Exfoliator is the best one yet. I got it from a pop-up event in college and I’m currently saving up to buy the full sized product. If you have a Kiehl’s store near you, definitely drop by and grab a fee sample.
And that’s it for my acne products! As for my tips, first: you should never touch your face.
Second, stay hydrated and drink lots of water.
Third and most importantly, stay positive. It’s important for you to keep optimistic and not to let your skin get to you.
That’s it for this post. If you have any questions do comment down below or check out the video I made on the same topic
