Hi guys, today I'll be sharing all about where to get your sneakers cleaned in KL + all about Shoemo!
I first came across Shoemo when I was looking for a service that could help clean my sneakers in the most gentle way possible. I have sneakers that I've spent quite some cash on, and I wasn't really sure if I could wash them recklessly by myself like any other pair of shoes.
Shoe Mo is a shoe cleansing company that offers one of Southeast Asia’s top shoe & sneaker care services. They use standardized processes + 100% handwash techniques to take care of your shoes and give them refreshed look.
Their signature services include cleaning, repair, repainting, unyellowing treatments, water repellent, deodorizing and customizing shoes. Shoemo is available in 4 different countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia) and will be available in more countries soon!
They have a few branches all over Malaysia, and I decided to drop by their Bangsar outlet

Located in the heart of Telawi, it's located just across Hanbing and is very accessible. You can take a Grab and key it in + you can easily walk to it from Bangsar Village as well.
Their shop is quite spacious and minimalist, and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the place smelled! Being a shoe shop, I expected it to kind of smell (since my own shoes smelled horrible hahaha), but to my delight, it was very clean and fresh.
The services are done in-store itself, and I actually got to see a quick glimpse of how their customization/reparation process looked like.

For my shoes, I decided to go for the deep cleaning treatment (RM50 per pair)
I brought a total of 4 pairs of shoes.
After telling the staff what service you would like to have done, they will investigate your shoes and take "before" photos. They'll also tell you what you should expect, as sometimes stains can settle deeply into sneakers and cannot be cleansed anymore.
I actually have not washed my shoes for more than a year now, so I was sure that the deep stains would be quite hard to remove. Still, the staff said they would try their best to clean it and that they would update me with the progress soon.
The Deep Cleaning service takes 3-5 business days to complete, however, I was told that I might have to wait longer as they had quite a lot of customers.
You can track the progress of your shoes on Shoemo's site, and you will be sent a separate email with your tracking number as well.
The service took 5 business days, and I'm not mad at all! It did not exceed their estimation although they had a lot of customers + I had 4 shoes in total, so I'm very happy with it.
You will receive an email notification saying your shoes are done + the before after pictures.
If you'd like to have your shoes sent over, there is a separate delivery fee. Since my office is near Bangsar, I just decided to pick it up myself.
Here are some before and after pictures to show how clean my shoes look like now. I'm most satisfied with my nude Nike Air Max, you can see how pristine it looks again! I was most scared to wash these because I was scared of damaging them, but the Shoemo team did such a great job with cleaning them + making sure they're in tip-top shape.
My Sketchers are my daily shoes, and you can see how clean they look afterwards. They were also my smelliest pair, and after the deep cleanse they smelled super fresh + clean

I have a pair of Lining shoes as well, and I honestly thought they looked clean even before the washing and that they just smelled. I was proved wrong because after the deep cleaning, you can actually see how much cleaner/brighter the colour of my shoes are:
A few more things to note is that I brought the shoes in my own plastic bag, and I took them back in the same bag. They do not provide any storage, and I think that's kinda nice because they minimize plastic waste/packaging.
When I collected my shoes after the deep cleaning, they were already fully laced in the same way that they came, which I think is a nice detail to note. The Shoemo team took great care of my shoes and I'm very statisfied with the overall service, customer service and flow of my experience. I'll definitely be dropping by again to clean my shoes, and I highly recommend you guys to try out their services as well.
